ESSENTIALS//WARDROBE STAPLES

Trench coats are functional, sexy, and versatile

Tailored blazer and slim fit black trousers
Carolina Herrera has mastered the white oxford shirt - this is exactly how it should look and fit

ESSENTIALS//ANNIE HALL

Not only is "Annie Hall" one of my favorite films of all time, but Diane Keaton is the image of masculine chic in this film. Say what you will about the tie (I don't really love it either) but the crisp white oxford shirt, vest buttoned just so, and slouchy khaki trousers,(we can't see her shoes but I am pretty sure they are oxfords) is the right way to do menswear for women. I love this look, always have...it just happens to be on trend right now...

WHAT I AM LOVING//JEWELRY FINDS

Let me introduce you to FANNIE SCHIAVONI - the body jewelry thing has been done, but never like this. It is medieval yet modern, tough but feminine, and beautifully crafted. Her pieces are works of art and beautiful to look at (and wear!) Most jewelry accents an outfit, these pieces are the outfit.
Check out the tribal and accents and over-the-top texture and presence of these pieces (botton 2 photos)! MANIAMANIA is another new favorite line of mine- there is nothing refined or quiet about this line...purely organic and raw and energetic.

FASHION//ART

Apparently Descartes had it all wrong...
Barbara Kruger's commentary on our addiction to consumption is right on and although buying things makes us feel good, having a lot of stuff doesn't make us fashionable or stylish. Buying the right pieces in the right colors with the right fit for you is what counts. Once you build this foundation, fashion becomes experimental and fun - a creative process.
